On the Fly Concat + Compression if a file is changed?

Firstly, thanks for the brilliant work! I was wondering if you've come across a implementation that would enable a server to 'watch' the js and the css directories, then if those files are changed, recombine and compress them on the fly. This would mean a build isn't needed - easier for a few team members to edit (on macs!) assets that don't require compiling, and it would fit in nicely with our dev workflow.

Forgive me if this functionality is either obvious / impossible: I'm a bit of a layman with .net! I'll be passing this info onto our tech guys once I've researched the best solution!

Many thanks for the help,
